VALE – Don ROBERTS (1935-2024)

The Myths & Legends Basketball Club was saddened by the passing of one of our members, Donny ROBERTS

Don was a Life member and committee member of the Myths & Legends Basketball Club.

Don was also Past President of the Bulleen Basketball Association.

He was a Dual World Masters games gold medallist.

Many members would remember Don’s organisation annually of the Myths & Legends Bulleen Tournament and was known as an outstanding and beautiful singer.  

All Members are invited to attend his funeral as per attached notice on Monday 29 July 2024 at Tobin Brothers Chapel, 816 Doncaster Road, Doncaster commencing 2pm.

Vale: Mary Roberts

Mary Roberts, wife of Don Roberts passed away peacefully last Sunday 18th February in her 85th year.

Mary and Don travelled with and managed some of the Australian Myths and Legends basketball teams for many years and helped with the development and opening of the Bulleen basketball stadium.

A celebration of Mary’s life will be held at Tobin Brothers Reflections of Life 816 Doncaster Road Doncaster on Monday 26th February 2024 at 10am

The funeral will be webcast from 10 am.

Vale: David John O’Donovan

Very sadly, a long time basketballer and dear friend has passed away.
Up until a few months ago, David John O’Donovan (63), played basketball every week. David was a weekly competitor at Albert Park and Dandenong Basketball Stadiums, would very often be seen at Myths and Legends training sessions at Veneto Club in Bulleen on Sunday mornings, as well as at numerous tournaments. In his younger years, David played in competitions at Chelsea, Sandringham and other suburbs.
David leaves behind a wife and 2 boys, and our deepest condolences go out to them.
